Open Burning
In the city limits of Hoover, open burning is only allowed by permit from November 1 – April 30. No burning is allowed from May 1 – October 31. You must obtain a burn permit from the Fire Marshal’s office for this type of burning. All burning must be 150 feet from the closest road, 500 feet from an occupied dwelling and 1500 feet from any church, nursing home, ballpark or large gathering. The use of consumer fireworks in the city limits of Hoover by the general public is not permitted by ordinance.

FOR FOOD UNITS THAT HAVE A CURRENT COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT PERMIT:
Contact Hoover Fire Department 205-444-7655 to schedule an inspection. Once inspection has been passed you can apply for City of Hoover business license.
FOR NEW FOOD UNITS THAT DO NOT HAVE A CURRENT COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT PERMIT:
Contact Hoover Fire Department 205-444-7655 to schedule an inspection. Once inspection has been passed you will have to go to appropriate county health department to receive a current health department permit. Once you have completed the inspection and health department permit you will return to the City of Hoover Revenue department to submit application and receive your City of Hoover business license.
MOBILE FOOD UNITS THAT ARE OPERATING IN THE CITY OF HOOVER JURISDICTION WITHOUT A CURRENT ANNUAL INSPECTION WILL BE REQUIRED TO CEASE OPERATIONS IMMEDIATELY UNTIL AN INSPECTION CAN BE SCHEDULED AND APPROVAL GIVEN BY THE HOOVER FIRE DEPARTMENT.
Hoover Fire Department inspections are conducted Monday thru Friday from 7am to 4pm and require an appointment. Appointments can be scheduled by contacting us at 205-444-7655.
