The Hoover Fire Department Annual Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony was held on Monday, September 12 at 8:30 am. The Keynote Speaker was Hoover Firefighter/Paramedic Robert Gwin, Technical Sergeant United States Air Force 117th Tactical Reserve and former Marine, who just returned to duty from deployment in the Gulf War Zone. Rob made a presentation of an American Flag flown during his deployment to Dr. and Mrs. Thomas Rivers of Hoover who founded the organization “Support Our Soldiers” in memory of their son Marine Lance Corporal Thomas Rivers, Jr. who lost his life while deployed in Afghanistan at the age of 22.
